Browsers do not pass the referrer information from the https pages by default for privacy and security reasons. That is why the traffic coming from https pages will be logged as Direct Traffic in the Web Statistics. Please bear in mind that some http websites may have codes to hide referrer information then these types of Referral Traffic too will be logged as Direct Traffic in the your Web Statistics.
